Andrés Sarmiento

Director of Sports Tourism

Andrés Sarmiento leads the Sports Tourism Department of the IIDCA Foundation with excellence, contributing more than 10 years of experience in the management and development of sports tourism in Chile and Latin America. As an Engineer in Tourism Management and a graduate in Tourism Administration, Sarmiento has not only stood out in the academic field, but also as a highly prestigious consultant, researcher and lecturer.

Andrés Sarmiento is an academic and researcher at the Universidad Tecnológica Metropolitana del Estado de Chile, with numerous publications and presentations on sports tourism and sustainable management. Founder of Turismo Deportivo Chile and Solo Turismo Chile, he has created platforms to promote specialized tourism and connect industry players. As a member of the scientific committee of the SASTOM Congress, he has contributed with high-impact research in sports management.

One of his greatest innovations is the TDAS (Sustainable Adaptive Sports Tourism) methodology, focused on the territorial organization of sports tourism. In addition, Sarmiento has redefined the concepts and classification of demand in this sector. His leadership also extends to the regional level, being Executive Manager of the Latin American Sports Tourism Network, where he promotes strategic alliances and sustainable projects.

Currently, in his role as Director of Sports Tourism at the IIDCA Foundation, he works committedly to integrate sport, culture and economy, consolidating sports tourism as a driver of sustainable development in Latin America.
